I have been wanting to make one of these since I saw it on
chars blog. So I will tell you how I did it. I drew the pattern on the board then took it out to my handy dandy saw. I am not the greatest sawer so the sides are the same, but I guess it makes it that much more primitive. Anyway after cutting it out I sanded it, then I painted it black. Then I painted it a light blue on top of the black.

Then after it dried I sanded it alll over and made it look really distressed.

Then I took my walnut stain and I slobbered it all over it. Then I wiped it off. It is a big mess so make sure you wear gloves. Then I pounded square nails.(cementnails) in

Then I hung it on the wall and put my candles on it. It looks really light in the picture but it is darker . I am quite proud of myself I did this project without any help from Dh. I even drilled the hole by myself.(I am not real great with a drill)

After I took the picture I found another candle. So I have five candles now. These candles are hand dipped by me.
Have a great day.
